Facilitator: Dor Havkin
Dor is an international Permaculture consultant and teacher with over 15 years experience in the field. He inspires students with his humour, playfulness and the ability to get people to question things deeply.
His work has focussed on water harvesting techniques, run-off management from local to watershed level, land rehabilitation, energy saving, green building, and eco-tourism.
Dor has worked on large and small projects from backyards to eco-villages and regional planning in Africa, Palestine, and Israel. He is one of the founders of a Permaculture organization and seed exchange movement in Israel. He works with the private sector, commercial companies and diverse national and international organizations and NGO’s.
Dor grew up near the Dead Sea and draws inspiration from ancient desert agriculture - understanding how traditional cultures dealt with their environmental problems and how we can turn problems into solutions now - with the aim of designing and implementing Permaculture projects which leave behind a legacy of resilience and access to resources that will improve people’s quality of life. Dor truly loves ‘opening doors’ for others!
